The three co-founders of the company are Weicin Jhu, a professor in the Department of Medical Engineering of Yangming University, the president of the company, Weilian Jhu, the chief medical officer/director of the Department of Orthopedics, Jhensing Hospital, and Yinjyun Zeng, the CEO/Doctor of Medical Engineering of Yangming University. Weicin Jhu and Weilian Jhu are brothers. Weicin Jhu and Yinjyun Ceng are teachers and students.

Weilian Jhu said that "the pain of the orthopedic physician's career" over the years has inspired the idea of WeMED's first product.

When Weilian Jhu became a young doctor before ten years ago, he discovered that the procedure of "intramedullary nailing" was always very tough and inconvenient when they were treating the injured. When the doctor performs the operation to place the supporting bone material inside the bones which was to prevent the bone from sliding, then the surgery could be seem as completely finished. But in order to find the hole position of the locking nail, the orthopedic physicians have to use X-ray. The number of cases handled is uncountable, sometimes even could reach dozens of cases per day or per month, and each time they do this kind of surgery, they have to exposed to X-ray risk again.

Weilian Jhu and his brother Weicin Jhu talked about the matter, "Why is there no one solve this problem?" Weicin Jhu replied, "Why don't you do it yourself?" Because of these words, Weilian Jhu began to think about how to fix the intramedullary in a simpler way. After repeated trials and hard work, it was found to be feasible. After that, with the help of his brother Weicin Jhu's medical engineering professional assistance and the help of the Medical Imaging Information Laboratory of Yangming University, this gradually became possible for commercialization.
